What happens the morning after...

Have you ever wondered what happens the morning after a novel gets finished?

Screenshot of a laptop that has words on it, the end of a manuscript says THE END.

I finished my fourteenth novel yesterday, with the same sense of relief that I had when I finished my first one! Something between 'Oh my God, I'm so pleased that's over' and 'Yay! I've done it again!

I text a couple of my friends who had been cheering me on, once I'd hit the send button, and the comments that came back were quite funny. My text said: Just hit the send button! Reply from said friend one: Congrats, I've got a glass on the go for you! Reply from said friend two: Good job. SSB or Chardy?

Well, clearly, the first thing that happens in my house is a glass of wine!

A stemless glass of white wine, sits on a wooden bench looking over a beautiful green yard

Not a bad spot for it.

Of course, the next thing that happens is I go to bed, all very wound up, and I don't sleep... So I usually listen to the radio for most of the night and get up at 4 am. Which is exactly what happened this morning!

But, if I hadn't got up at 4 am, I wouldn't have seen this:

A stunning peach and blue sky looking around trees

Or this:

An empty beach and a serene and calm ocean

Today, I'm going to tidy up my office, which is in desperate need of such an activity and start to file all my notes that I've taken while I've been writing WITH INTENT - the third in the Detective Dave Burrows series.

Pages and pages of notes, a notebook and a map of Western Australia

Tomorrow, the planning for Book 15 starts. I'm tossing around titles at the moment!
