My job was to get the steers in. You would think it would be easy enough! We just wanted to put them in a different paddock and draft out a couple of escapee’s . No prob’s!
The steers had other ideas! They were feeling pretty good. Fresh and happy. They took off as fast as they could to the other side of the paddock, as I drove in the gate.
No worries, I thought, I’ll just slowly potter over to them and gently start going around the mob. Off they took to the trees. Bugger! Tree’s are a bit harder to get them out of. But out they came and off they took across the paddock to … the dam
Short of swimming out there myself (which I had no intention of doing), I had to admit defeat and call the reinforcements! Anthony and his dogs!
We finally shifted them to the new paddock. It’s fantastic to know that they’re getting enough to eat and feeling so good because it wasn’t like that last year.
