One of these books is not like the other… Can you tell the difference?
Yep, one is large and one is small. One has the first few chapters of Rising Dust in it, one doesn’t. Both have gorgeous butts on the cover. (That’s a Dave butt, for all of you who hadn’t realised…)
So why the difference in size? Well the large one, in book industry speak, is called a C Format. They are the first edition of the book. The ones that you get if you buy it when it first comes out. The smaller one is called a B Format and come out about twelve months later at a cheaper price.
All book sales to authors are important; it’s how we make a living. And COVID hasn’t been kind to many new authors because they haven’t been able to get out and promote their books. B format’s are really significant for authors too because we’re able to attract some more readers, who perhaps hasn’t seen the book before, or are willing to spend less money on an author they haven’t heard of or read. But shelf space is at a premium at the moment and sometimes stores find it hard to make the space to stock them.
I wanted to let you know all of this because as an author who is lucky enough to have B Formats for all of my books, I’d really like to see them continue. But to that, we need readers support in purchasing them.
If you haven’t read Something to Hide, it’s out on the 1st March! And you’ll be the first few people to get to read the first chapters of Rising Dust, the follow on novel from Something to Hide. If you haven’t read it or you think a friend would enjoy it, please pop the 1st of March into your diary and make a trip to Big W, QBD or any book store. I’d be incredibly grateful to be able to keep the B Format’s coming.
