Those new pages feels
Happy New Year, everyone! Three days in already.
Have you started to reassess your life, write down those New Year's resolutions? I have - although I don't know why, because I never seem to stick to it for any length of time! And they're always the same ones; health, fitness, weight loss. Organisation! Creatives seem to lack organisation, and I'm one of those. For this reason, you're not going to get a photo of my desk today. As much as I'd love to show you the newly cut fresh flowers from my garden and the tidy lines of pens and rulers lined up against the computer, you won't see any of that in my office. In fact, you'll be lucky if you can find the desk under all my notes, ideas and quotes I have lying around for inspiration.
In saying that, it is the time of the year again where I have to start a new book. And it's the November book, so a lovely mix of Dave, Kim, and Jack. Maybe Zara... I haven't quite decided about her yet. The girl who I do want to introduce you to, though, is Kayla. She's my new main character, and I've been having a lot of fun getting to know her and Joel over the last few weeks, writing short stories about them.
Now, I have a special offer for you! If you're a writer and you want to play along at home, I'm starting this new book tomorrow, and I aim to write a minimum of 2,000 words a day. If you'd like to join me and write your own book and create new writing habits for the new year, then join my writing course. You and I can chat daily about word counts and characters, plot points and writer's block. I want to create a safe space for writers to talk about their craft and stories, where you can ask for help. If you're in, then join up. Would love to see you there.
In the meantime, I'm going to sweep all the excess crap on my desk aside and open a brand new file for book eighteen and get started.
