The new Harry Potter...

'Have you put on sunscreen?' Mum always used to ask as I headed out the door to ride my bike or go swimming.

I hated sunscreen.

I always wore a hat, but the greasiness of the cream, I'd do everything to avoid it. Until mum would make me stand in front of her and smear it thickly across my nose, shoulders and back.

In my adult life, I'd avoid putting sunscreen on, while in the sheep and cattle yards,  because the dust would stick to my face even more than normal. But again, I'd always wear a hat, thinking the hat was keeping the sun from my face, so I shouldn't get burnt.

Obviously not the case, with the first of a few little surgeries happening this week.

I'm now waiting for the owl to swoop down the chimney and drop the letter saying I am actually a wizard and need to go to Hogwarts.

Mum was right; wear sunscreen!
