There’s something I need to tell you ...
Yep, there’s so much to let you know about!
Firstly, the edits for The Buried are done, and it goes to print this week. This book has been a monumental effort! Even though the whole storyline is the same, the actions and happenings around the main plot have changed 180 degrees since I wrote the first draft. Now this is what good editors do to your book! They pull it apart and make suggestions on how to make it better. I’m so much happier with the final version of The Buried than when I submitted it. This is what I was hoping to achieve when I told you all I was rebranding to write crime; I wanted to be pushed and challenged. Let me tell you, that is happening!
As always, preorders are open for The Buried now. You can do that here and choose which retailer you’d like to buy from. Or if you’re a library lover, then get into your library to put it on order to read now. I know some people have done that already and are still twelfth in line!
It always excites and humbles me that you guys are keen to read my latest offering to you. So a big thanks.
Then there’s September… I’m headed to Queensland.
I’ve got two one-off events. The first one is in Bundaberg. That’s a library event where I’ll be talking about books.
The next one is in Hervey Bay. Now this is a completely different event from what I’ve ever done before. You’ll get a whole lot of behind-the-scenes, never-heard-of stories of my life, not just books. We’ve put this event on during a Friday evening in case you would like to make a weekend of it in Hervey Bay. I’ve never been there, but I’m told it’s beautiful, and if the photos are anything to go by, then it is just that. Beautiful.
There are limited tickets to this event, so please book early. For $20, you get a free drink on arrival and a two-course meal, so it’s pretty good value. We’re hoping to have a bookseller there too.
October and November are seeing me head out on a huge driving tour of Southern Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and southern South Australia. I’m going to be on the road for about three and a half weeks, and I’ve worked out that I’ll be driving about 20,000 kilometres. I can’t wait to see you all, so keep an eye out at your local library to see if they’re advertising the events already. I know some are, but I don’t have all the booking links yet. When I do, I’ll put them up on my events page. (Or rather, Kelly, my tech guru, will because I have no idea!)
Have any of you heard me speak about Michael Thompson? Well, he’s a very, very good author, writing two books, How to Be Remembered and All the Perfect Days. If you haven’t read them, do yourself a favour! Anyhow, Michael and his co-writer of Twelve Months to Financial Freedom, Canna Campbell, will be joining us on the Inner Circle on the 24th of September. I thought this might be a good time, in the lead-up to Christmas and with costs skyrocketing, to have a chat about money.
Now about Fleur’s Inner Circle… When I first announced it, I had so many of you join up, but it’s been hard to keep you there! I know that it’s a different type of social media platform, and so it’s probably not part of your routine to check. I hope you’ll keep popping back every week. We have lots of fun discussions over there. Some of it is books, some is just everyday life.
What we also have is a Smoko with Fleur that happens every Thursday at 9:30 WA time. You can access me (and Shadow) sitting at my kitchen table with a cuppa. You can ask anything, or we can chat generally. I don’t mind. But what I do want to do is create connection and community through this platform. And you can join up here. It’s completely safe and free, with no adverts or algorithms dictating to you. Please come on over and join us. And if you’ve already joined, pop back again!
Anyhow, I think that is it for this week! Hope you have a wonderful seven days. Speak to you soon.
