Something amazing has happened...

Who remembers these books? The Reader's Digest Selections, with four books in one. A bookworm's dream. Well, that's how I saw them when they turned up in Mum and Dad's mailbox. I can't remember how often, maybe once a month. I'd grab it before they did and curl up in Dad's chair and read. Mum used to say that one of the best sounds was my giggles from the sitting room, when she was in the kitchen getting tea. She wouldn't know what I was laughing at, but she knew it was something to do with what I was reading.

I used to get so immersed in reading that I wouldn't hear Mum and Dad calling me for dinner, or to do my jobs (okay, there might have been a bit of domestic deafness there!) or if it was bedtime. I loved living in these other worlds. So, having been such a huge part of my childhood, imagine how excited I was to see this: I wonder if there is another little girl, somewhere reading in her dad's chair, her feet tucked up underneath her bum not knowing she has a writing career in front of her and one of her stories might end up in the Special Sections of the Reader's Digest books.
