Guess what? On Monday, my fourteenth novel went to print. Who would have thought that eleven years after Red Dust was published, I'd still be tapping at the keyboards and playing with my imaginary friends?

Manuscript with notes and mark up for Red Dirt Country

Red Dirt Country is the third book in the Dave Burrows series - not that you have to read them in order, they're all stand-alone, but I like calling them a series because it makes me sound like a fully fledged author! (Fool's Gold and Without a Doubt are the other two.)

Anyhow, Red Dirt Country takes Dave back to his early years. The year is 2000, and in this book, he's finally achieved his dream of being a Detective Senior Constable in the stock squad.

Dave's first wife, Melinda, is pregnant with their second child and busy with a court case from a previous investigation. Dave is also in the middle of a case in the north of Western Australia, which gives him his first experience on the stock squad. The case is deep in the underbelly of racial divide with family secrets, long-repeated lies, kidnapping and murder. Red Dirt Country isn't a sequel to Red Dust - it's a completely different time and story.

I'm excited to finally have this book to print because I can't wait to share it with you all in April. I love writing these Dave books. You can preorder Red Dirt Country from Booktopia by clicking here.

A phone sits on top of the manuscript for Red Dirt Country, on the phone shows the book cover.

My next manuscript is due in my publisher's inbox on the 1st of March, so I'd best get back to it. But I'd love to hear what was exciting about your week.
