My book recommendations for 2016 (ideas for gifts)!
I wish I'd read more this year - but then again, most readers probably say that.
My to-be-read pile, next to my bed, my bookshelf and chair in the lounge seem rather large. In fact, I came back from Perth with a couple more books, and Garry asked if I really did need the extra ones... Of course, that was met with cries of: 'Of course, don't be a heathen!' Then we fell around laughing because he knew there was always going to be more books turn up - from the post office, the library or the shops.
I guess I'm a bit late to the party, but I have fallen in love with Liane Moriarty's writing this year. Mainly because while I was on tour for Sapphire Falls, I listened to the audio of Truly, Madly, Guilty. Caroline Lee did an incredible job of narrating the novel - a narrator makes an audiobook, no matter how beautiful the writing is. If you're going on a long drive, like perhaps to visit family over the Nullarbor, for Christmas, this is a great book - the suspense and expectation have been so well done.
I'm listening to What Alice Forgot now and again; it's a thought-provoking and beautifully written novel.
You can see above a few of my recommendations for Christmas presents - yes, I've sneakily put Sapphire Falls in there for you!
Unfortunately, I've lent out quite a few of my favourite books from 2016 (not all of them have been published in 2016; it's just that's when I've read them), so I can't photograph them for you!
The Dry by Jane Harper
Trip Wire by Lee Child
The Wrong Side of Goodbye by Michael Connelly
Southern Ruby by Belinda Alexandra (I'd been having for this one - she's one of my favourite writers!)
The Good People by Hannah Kent
The Beekeeper's Secret by Josephine Moon
Rose's Vintage by Kayte Nunn
These are just a few that I've really enjoyed and would make great Christmas presents.
Have you got a favourite book for this year?
