Another novel

A computer screen. Text: Swindlers List by Fleur McDonald

I love the 'new feels' of starting a new book. It's exciting, fun, and the possibilities are endless.

Trouble is, those feelings don't always hang around. I find I get to about 20,000 words in and get a bit stuck. Those first 20,000 come with a rush of adrenaline and enthusiasm. The next 50,000 are a bit of a slog, and as I get towards the ending, I tend to get that same rush as the beginning.

Last Tuesday, I handed in my 16th manuscript; by Monday, I was swamped with ideas after reading a news article online. Not one that I can tell you about yet, as it would give the plot away. So I have those 'new feels' already, and I'm really looking forward to getting stuck into writing. The opening scene came to me in a flash, and I've made a load of notes already.

Writing every day is important, so the momentum isn't lost. When it feels like this, I love writing. Ask me in a few weeks, and I probably won't be as eager!

I wonder if my lovely publisher will let me keep this title?
